Harun ar Rashid Tutul is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose practice spans painting, performance, video installation, and new media. Deeply inspired by the dynamic and ever-evolving discourse of contemporary art, his work frequently engages with critical socio-political and environmental issues, exploring the fragile relationship between humanity, nature, and the changing cultural landscape. Harun has presented his work on prominent international platforms, including the 59th Venice Biennale (Italy, 2022), the SAARC Artist Camp (Sri Lanka, 2018), and the 24th Seoul International Art Festival (Korea). His contributions to the visual arts of Bangladesh have earned him significant recognition, most notably the Grand Award at the 22nd National Art Exhibition (2017) and the Grand Award at the 17th Asian Art Biennale (2016) organized by the Bangladesh National Art Gallery.
His 2nd solo painting exhibition, “Fragile Coexistence,” was held from 10 March to 23 April 2025 at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Dhaka, where his environmentally driven artworks received wide appreciation. Harun completed his M.F.A. in Graphic Design in 2001 at the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka, where he now serves as an Associate Professor. Alongside his academic role, he continues to create, exhibit, and mentor, contributing actively to the development of Bangladesh’s contemporary art scene.
